Spooky DIY: How to Create a Glowing Ghost in 6 Simple Steps
Halloween is just around the corner, and what better way to get into the spirit than by crafting your own spooky decorations? Forget store-bought trinkets this year, we’re going for maximum spooky impact with a glowing, sound-enabled ghost that’s surprisingly easy to make!
Imagine a soft glow emanating from a shadowy corner, accompanied by eerie sounds or foreign whispers… perfect for impressing trick-or-treaters or adding an extra chill to your Halloween party.
What You’ll Need:
Before we dive into the creation process, let’s gather our toolkit.
- A white sheet or table cloth
- Black felt (for the eyes)
- Fabric glue or a needle and black thread
- A strong (white) clothes hanger
- A (white) thin rope, about 20 cm
- A Pure Woodland Glow
Got everything? Let the haunting begin!
Step 1: Create the Eyes First
Cut two eye shapes out of black felt – spooky almond, jagged ovals, or whatever gives your ghost the most personality.
Step 3: Attach the Eyes
Decide where the “head” of your ghost will be (usually the centre of the sheet), then attach the eyes a bit below:
- Quick & Easy: Use fabric glue to stick them on firmly. Let it dry completely before moving on.
- Long-Lasting: Sew the eyes on with black thread for a sturdier ghost that’ll haunt for many Halloweens to come.
Step 4: Give Your Ghost a “Voice”
Now for the spooky soundtrack! Turn on your Woodland Glow and choose the perfect ghostly sound
You can use some spooky sounds, if your Pure Ghost is only a decoration:
Or go full on Halloween party more – like this, your Ghost becomes the DJ:
Step 5: Assemble the Apparition
It’s time to bring your ghost to life!
- Connect the hook of the coat hanger to the carrying handle of your Woodland Glow with a piece of string. The hanger will then form the shoulders, while the light forms the glowing head. If your coat hanger has a trouser bar and it gives your ghost a crooked shape, saw a piece of it off or remove it completely.
- Place the white sheet (with the eyes facing forward!) over the coat hanger, speaker and light.
- Adjust everything until the glow is even and the eyes are positioned just right.
- Attach a string to the top of the hanger so you can hang up your ghost.
- Feel free to fringe the bottom of the sheet if you like the look of your ghost.
Step 6: Choose the Perfect Location
Your ghost is ready to spook! Hang it in a dark corner, on a porch railing, or from a tree branch – anywhere it can sway gently in the breeze. The subtle movement will make your creation look eerily alive.
Happy Spooky Halloween!
